Every atom in our bodies was forged inside a dying star. It seems only fair that two improbable arrangements of ancient stardust occasionally pause long enough to marvel at one another. Curiosity has been the architect of my life—it has led me into bookstores where I arrived for one novel and left with four, into graduate seminars where I learned that the best questions rarely have tidy answers, into museums where an hour quietly became an afternoon, and into unfamiliar cities where the wrong turn somehow turned out to be the right one. I have a weakness for people who make me laugh, notice small details, and can wander effortlessly from astronomy to travel, philosophy, or the delightfully important question of whether octopuses dream. My favorite dates rarely begin with a checklist. They begin with, “Let’s see where this street goes.” We might disappear into a natural history museum, hunt for tide pools, forage through a forest, or discover the tiny restaurant that somehow serves the best meal in the city.
